Texas in Revolt – 1835

Texas in Revolt – 1835,” is a SALHA Event in Kirby, TX, November 2, 2019.
The Texas Revolution re-enactments go beyond the battlefield as living history reenactors from across Texas setup Texian, Tejano and Mexican army encampments at opposite ends of Friendship Park and offer demonstrations of 19th-century life.

Hosted by the City of Kirby, the San Antonio Living History Association recreates two opening battles of the Texas Revolution.  Both the October 28, 1835, Battle of Concepción and the November 26, 1835, Grass Fight reenactments are presented to the public during the 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM free event.
School teachers are invited to bring their students for a unique historical and educational experience.

“The Battle of Béjar” and “Capitulation of General Cos” 2019

“Battle of Béjar” and The Capitulation of General Cos is a SALHA Event in La Villita, Downtown San Antonio), December 14, 2019, from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

The Battle of Béjar (Dec. 5-9, 1835) and The Capitulation of General Cos (Dec. 11, 1835) reenactments are presented by the San Antonio Living History Association in the old plazas, streets and at the historic Cos House in La Villita. The SALHA event includes three living history reenactments, two historical walking tours of La Villita, San Antonio’s historic arts center, plus early foods, skills and black powder cannon demonstrations typical of 1835 San Antonio de Béjar.
School teachers are invited to bring their students for a unique historical and educational experience.

“Dawn At The Alamo”

“Dawn At The Alamo,” is a SALHA Commemorative Event March 6, 2020, 6:00 to 7:00 AM in Alamo Plaza. The San Antonio Living History Association, in partnership with the Alamo Trust (GLO), presents its annual “Dawn At The Alamo” commemoration ceremony marking the 184th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo. SALHA invites all Alamo descendant families, Alamo heritage organizations and the visiting public, to attend and “Remember the Alamo!” at 6:00AM each March 6th. The Alamo ancestor names of the descendant families in attendance are read as floral wreaths are placed to honor all who made their supreme sacrifice on that most hallowed ground in Texas. Commemorative candles are then lit and followed by a solemn prayer and bagpiper.

To conclude the commemorative ceremony, Alamo living history reenactors invited from across Texas and the nation, join with SALHA to offer salute volleys in honor of these heroes.
