“Dawn At The Alamo” 2018
“Dawn At The Alamo”©: On Tuesday, March 6, from 6 to 7AM, the hour of the battle of the Alamo, is presented by SALHA on the 182nd anniversary of the Alamo Battle. The San Antonio Living History Association annually presents this free pre-dawn anniversary Alamo Plaza event as a solemn commemorative ceremony honoring the Alamo fallen in recognition of the sacrifices made on both sides of the 1836 Alamo battle. Readings from eyewitness accounts describing that morning attack on the Alamo are followed by the lighting of 13 candles in honor of the 13-day siege and battle, a reconciliation “Peace Prayer” read in English and Spanish, and flintlock musket salute volleys. The commemorative ceremony concludes with floral wreath presentations by Alamo descendants, heritage and historical organizations.
NOTE: Also, on March 6th the San Antonio Living History Association hosts two other organization’s commemorative programs presented free in Alamo Plaza.
