March 10, 2018 (Saturday) “El Nacimiento – The Birth of San Antonio” will be presented from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. The San Antonio Living History Association will participate as Presidio soldiers in support of this Canary Islands Descendants Association event. The Tricentennial program historical presenters will depart in procession from the Spanish Governors Palace to the Plaza de las Islas / Main Plaza to begin the Tricentennial event. Three components of the existing founding community of San Antonio, consisting of the Native American groups, the Spanish Presidio soldiers and families, and missionaries will tell their stories. All will then welcome the arriving Canary Islands families in 1731. Historical narrations and activities will take place in the Plaza de las Islas / Main Plaza. FREE.
