CPE Courses

SALHA offers professional development (CPE) courses designed for educators interested in incorporating living history and experiential learning into their classrooms. These courses provide guidance, resources, and hands-on activities to help teachers bring Texas history to life for their students.

A New Opportunity for Texas History Educators

FREE 8-Hour CPE Course

Limited Time Introductory Offering

The San Antonio Living History Association proudly presents its first TEA-approved CPE course: Tejano Contributions to the Texas Revolution: San Antonio's Role in Shaping History through Living History and Material Culture.

This innovative educational pilot project has been made possible through the generous support of the Educational Grants Program of the San Antonio Conservation Society Foundation. We are honored to offer this course free of charge to Texas history teachers who register for both the October 30th and November 15th, 2025, sessions. Full 8 hours of CPE accreditation will be awarded upon completion.

Tejano Contributions to the Texas Revolution

Course Duration: 8 hours of CPE credit

Focus Area: Tejano contributions to the Texas Revolution

Teaching Method: Dynamic, hands-on exploration with living history elements

Key Elements: Material culture—artifacts, clothing, tools, and weapons

Target Audience: Educators teaching Texas history

Location Emphasis: San Antonio's significance during the conflict

Schedule: October 30, 2025 (Zoom) & November 15, 2025 (Historical Tour & Field Session)

Certified Living History Educator (CLHE)

Course Duration: 6 hours of CPE credit

Focus Area: Living history interpretation for educators

Teaching Method: Professional development and credentialing program

Key Elements: TEKS-aligned, culturally inclusive presentations

Target Audience: K-12 teachers, museum educators, reenactors, community historians

Format: Virtual sessions with interactive demonstrations

Schedule: Fall 2025 - 8:30-10:30 AM on 9/6, 9/20, 10/11, 10/25, 11/01, 11/15, 12/20

Cost: $75.00
